Libraries
The Goldstein Partnership has designed many of New Jersey’s most prominent, innovative, and inviting public libraries. Year after year, our public, university, and special-purpose libraries have set the standard for architectural excellence, functionality, efficiency, and environmental responsibility, and have been cited in numerous national and international design and construction publications. The success of our libraries is evident from the substantial and sustained increases in visitors and circulation which have accompanied their completion.

“Eli demonstrated remarkable creativity and resourcefulness in dealing with the challenges this project presented... Comprehensiveness and attentiveness to detail permeated the work that the firm performed.”

| -S. Stephens, Director, Jefferson Twp. Library |
Expandability and flexibility are the hallmarks of our library designs. At every scale and with every system, we are committed to accommodating growth and change. Whether siting the building, programming its spaces, or planning its cabling infrastructure, we and our consultants plan for the future. The wisdom of this approach is exemplified at the Madison (NJ) Public Library, where our inclusion of underfloor conduits in the original building enabled it to easily accommodate the transition to personal computers a generation later.
Our goal is always to minimize long-term operating costs. In locating the service desks, arranging the stacks, distributing the offices, or selecting the carrels, we consider the implications, not only in terms of functionality and first cost, but also in terms of staffing and maintenance.

“The Township is most pleased with the improvement to the municipal facilities and quite proud of the new Library, in large measure because of Mr. Goldstein's leadership on the project.”

| -Kevin P. Davis, Administrator/Clerk, Hillsborough Township |
The feasibility of library projects often hinges on the availability of funds from sources beyond the local community. We have been extremely successful in securing New Jersey State Library Construction Grants. Our tireless efforts on behalf of our public library clients have yielded millions of dollars in outside funding for construction, energy-conservation, and accessibility.
Our expertise in masterplanning has been particularly valuable to our clients whose existing facilities are in need of renovation or expansion. Working within their physical and budgetary constraints, we develop strategies for the implementation of facility improvements in phases intended to minimize interference with ongoing library activities.
